About the Gems Project EP
“Where can we hear you?”
My first Solo album…
As a professional actor and singer for over a decade, I’ve had the wonderful experience of traveling across the US, working with other artists to share stories and music with audiences. This has been the joy and fulfillment of my life.
Almost entirely, this work has been in live performance. There’s nothing like doing it live — feeling the energy of the room, hearing a genuine laugh or feeling the tension of a moment when everyone is holding their breath together. I’ve loved this, and I thrive in that live, human, artistic space.
However, I know there’s something special about enjoying songs in a more personal space, and having music to listen to and enjoy over and over again. You hear something new each time, and a song can hit you differently at different points of your life. So I find myself wanting to create something that can be enjoyed this way, especially for family and friends who cannot attend my (sometimes far-flung) live performances.
A few years ago, I had the pleasure of recording two Irish music albums with Ray Driver, which featured beautiful new songs set to the poetry of W.B. Yeats. This experience sparked my interest in recording an album of my own. This spring I am scheduled to record the role of Saavik in the studio album for KHAN!!! The Musical!, a show that has been dear to my heart through its development over the last few years. I was fortunate to premiere this role in live performances Off-Broadway last year, and the pleasure of recording an album has prompted me to begin working on my solo album.
The Gems Project is the title I’m giving to the new EP album I want to record this year. My goal is to select songs that have meant something to me through my performing career so far, and that represent important parts of me as a singer and performer. I will work with a collaborative pianist and recording professionals to put together a set of songs that will be streamable on every music platform.
This will take some funding to make a reality. If you’re interested in becoming a patron of my Musical Gems EP project, feel free to contribute using the donation link below. Please also send me a message or email, so that I can properly thank you.
